The best Hip Hop album I've heard in a long time. A smooth sample-based instrumental album reminiscent of the golden years of hip hop (Pete Rock, Tribe Called Quest, etc) but with a modern twist. In heavy rotation right now. Definitely worth checking out!

Finally I got around to buying my first microcontroller. It's a piece of hardware that is part of the Arduino open-source electronics prototyping platform. So basically what that means is that ordinary folks can create their own electronics projects cheaply. I've always wanted to build evil robots but just never got around to it, but now my mad scientists dreams will become a reality. 

I'll be working on making some cool projects like these, but the main goal is to build my own mini synthesizer. 

I was able to buy mine at one of the electronics stores in Akihabara for only ¥3,200 ($32). I got some other accessories pretty cheaply at this great store Akizukidenshi, very cheap and worth checking out.

I'll be posting my progress, so check back soon.

I have a new website. Whoo hoo!

After a few weekends of laying out a design, CSS-ing, HTML-ing, and configuring Wordpress I finally have my new website up and ready to roll. Of course it's not "finished" because we all know that a website is never finished, but at least it's presentable. So bear with me as I iron out the kinks, as this is very much work-in-progress.

Anyway I created this site because my old site was a bit too specific to only one of my interests. Here I'll be writing about and linking to various topics. Anything ranging from Life in Japan to Electronics to Music Production to Photography. However, may all non-nerds be forewarned — since I am a computer scientist, spend too much time on this Internetweb thing, and am a pro Web Developer — I will be posting much about Web Development techie related things. Wether you're into techie stuff or not, hopefully you'll find something of interest here. Please feel free to comment and send me feedback.
